The Concussion Clinic was created by the sports medicine specialists at Vermont Orthopaedic Clinic, part of Rutland Regional Medical Center, to evaluate anyone with concussion symptoms. Board-certified physicians diagnose by reviewing the injury history and symptoms, performing a neurological exam of vision, hearing, balance and reflexes, and testing thinking, memory and concentration. Treatment plans cover screen and activity limits, staged return to school with academic accommodations, and a graded return to sport once symptoms resolve; lingering post-concussive cases may add monitored exercise, physical therapy for balance, speech or occupational therapy, and neurology referral. A 24/7 sports injury hotline offers pre-visit advice and expedited appointments.
